The Hutchinson Community College Men's Basketball team starts its quest for a third-straight Jayhawk Conference championship on Saturday as the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons travel to Seward County.

Tipoff at Seward County's Green House is set for 8 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning around 7:50 p.m. Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Daren Dunn (analysis) will call the action. The Blue Dragon Sports Network will stream the game live.

If the 2017-18 Blue Dragons capture the Jayhawk Conference championship, it would be the fifth time in program history to do so. Hutch won three-straight conference titles from 1959-61, 1966-68, 1986-88 and won a record six in a row from 1971-76.

The Blue Dragons have had a strong start to 2017-18 with four wins by an average of 45 points per game. The Dragons come off a 125-61 victory on Tuesday at Tabor JV.

The Blue Dragons have been balanced offensively this season with four players scoring in double figures and eight scoring seven or more points per game.

Sophomore guard J.J. Rhymes is averaging 15.8 points while shooting 59.1 percent from the field. Sophomore Devonte Bandoo is averaging 12.5 points, freshman Curtis Hollis is averaging 12.0 points and Rheaquone Taylor is averaging 10.5 points per game.

The Blue Dragons are averaging 100.2 points per game offensively and are shooting 52.4 percent from the floor. After a slow start the in the first two games from 3-point range, the Blue Dragons have improved to 35.1 percent from long range.

The Saints are 4-0 for first-year head coach Jason Sauter with wins over Clarendon, Northern Oklahoma-Enid, Sunrise Christian and the Lamar JV.

The Saints are averaging 84.0 points per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor and a sizzling 42.7 percent from 3-point range. Defensively, Seward County is at 59.3 points per game allowed. Opponents are shooting 36.6 percent.

Sophomore Ke'Sean Davis leads three Saints' players in double figures at 15.0 points per game. Isiah Small averages 13.8 points per game and Devin Bethely averages 11.5 points per contest.

The Blue Dragons open the conference with three-straight road games at Seward County, Cloud County and Pratt before playing Coffeyville on Tuesday, November 21 in the home conference opener.
