REED, BROWN, BURGER SWEEP KJCCC WEEKLY HONORS

For the second time this season, the Hutchinson Community College football team swept Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors.

The No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons earned their fourth victory of the season over a nationally ranked opponents after a 46-10 victory last Saturday over No. 11 Dodge City at Gowans Stadium.

Running back Tyrell Reed Jr. was named the KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, including back-to-back weeks. Defensive end Daniel Brown earned his first KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week award. Kicker Nestus Burger was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Blue Dragons have now had five KJCCC Offensive Players of the Week, three Defensive Players of the Week and four Special Teams Players of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tyrell Reed Jr.
Reed had his third 100-yard game of the season and helped the No. 1 Blue Dragons defeat No. 11 Dodge City.

Reed had just 10 touches, but scored four touchdowns and ran for 115 yards or 11.5 yards per carry. Reed had touchdown runs of 5, 6, 22 and 71 yards.

He is the first Blue Dragon with four rushing touchdowns in a game since EJ Emmons in 2017.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Daniel Brown
Brown improved his nation-leading quarterback sack total to 10 with three sacks and four tackles for loss to lead the No. 1 Blue Dragons.

Brown finished with eight total tackles, including four solo stops. Brown has had five sacks in the last two games – wins over No. 10 Butler and No. 11 Dodge City.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nestus Burger
Burger broke a Blue Dragon record with a 50-yard field goal against Dodge City. Burger capped a dominant 26-point second quarter with his 50-yard field goal.

That broke the old record of 48 yards by Sebastian Garcia in 2018.
