One day after being named the Jayhawk Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, Hutchinson Community College sophomore kicker C.J. Moya was recognized nationally for his big game last week at Gowans Stadium.

Moya was named the NJCAA Football Special Teams National Player of the Week on Wednesday.

The sophomore kicker from Naples, Florida scored a career-high 13 points and was perfect in placement kicks in the Blue Dragons' 55-6 victory over Fort Scott at Gowans Stadium.

Moya nailed all seven of his extra-point tries and kicked field goals of 22 and 23 yards with the game still in the balance.

Moya is the first Blue Dragon to win an NJCAA National Player of the week since Week 5 last season when Daishon Folsom was the National Defensive Player of the week. Moya is the first Blue Dragon to earn national honors on special teams since Jalik Thomas did so in Week 2 last season.
