Nine different Blue Dragons scored touchdowns and Hutchinson Community College head football coach moved up another rung on the all-time program coaching wins' list Thursday night.

The No. 3-ranked Blue Dragons rolled by RPA Academy 89-0 in the final regular-season home game of 2019. Hutchinson improves to 8-1 overall with a Nov. 2 game looming against No. 7 Garden City at Garden City. RPA falls to 0-8.

Rhoades tied John Matous for second place on the Blue Dragon Coaching Wins' list with 97 in his 14th season on the Hutchinson sideline.

On Thursday night, The Blue Dragons:

+ Scored the third-most points in single-game history with 89. This was also the first time in team history the Blue Dragons scored 80 or more points in back-to-back games (The Dragons scored 85 against Dodge City last week).

+ Posted the second-largest margin of victory in team history. Only a 91-point margin of victory two years ago against RPA was more than Thursday's 89-point margin.

+ Led 75-0 at halftime, which was the most points scored in a second half. Two years ago, Hutch led RPA 63-0 at halftime.

In three all-time games against RPA, the Blue Dragons have outscored the Wildcats 262-0.

The Blue Dragons rolled up 511 total offensive yards against RPA, the second time this season Hutchinson has broken the 500-yard mark. Hutch had a season-high 469 rushing yards, the most rushing yards in a game since going for 416 yards on the ground against Iowa Central on October 1, 2016.

The Blue Dragons had 15 offensive plays of 10 yards or more and nine of 20 yards or more.

Ten different Blue Dragons had at least one run and no Hutch back had more than five carries. Kendall Cross had 88 yards on five carries with an 8-yard touchdown. Shariif Brown, who was making his first start at quarterback, rushed for 83 yards on four carries with a 28-yard touchdown run. Erin Collins rushed for a career-high three touchdowns – runs of 12, 3 and 50 yards – going for 81 yards on five carries.

The Blue Dragons completed only three passes on six attempts.

Defensively, the Blue Dragons held RPA to opponent season lows of 43 total yards on 56 carries. The Wildcats ran for a negative-1 yard; the sixth consecutive game the Dragons have held an opponent to less than 100 rushing yards. The Dragons had 16 total tackles for loss totaling 67 yards. Hutch sacked RPA quarterback Jason Wakefield three times.

The Blue Dragons had four takeaways, all on interceptions. Kaytron Allen had a 46-yard interception for a touchdown. Art Green, Arian Strong and Demeco Roland also had interceptions.

Special teams also joined in the scoring parade as Markies Colvin ran a punt back 30 yards for Hutchinson's fifth special teams' touchdown return this season.

Hutchinson led 34-0 after one quarter on touchdown runs of 12 and 3 yards by Collins, Brown's 28-yard run, Allen's 46-yard interception return and Tiyon Evans' 7-yard score.

The Dragons tallied 41 points in the second quarter. Collins ran 50 yards up the middle for this third touchdown. Colvin had his 30-yard punt return, Cross had an eight-yard rush into the end zone, Jonathan White skittered 40 yards for a touchdown, Ray Samuel added a 4-yard touchdown run and Darious Cleveland closed the quarter with a 43-yard touchdown.

Samuel scored his second touchdown of the game with a 47-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Drake Bolus added a 4-yard scoring run in the final quarter. Ten of hutch's 11 touchdowns came on drives of five plays or less.

GAME NOTES: The Dragons are now 50-16-1 all-time against non-NJCAA opponents in team history. … The Blue Dragons complete their 15th undefeated home season, going 5-0 in 2019. The last undefeated home season was 2014. … This was Hutch's sixth all-time game of 80 or more points in team history. … The Blue Dragons were 3 of 3 on third down. RPA was 1 of 15.
