Quarterback Mark Wright threw three first-half touchdown passes and the Hutchinson Community College football team rolled up a season-high 512 yards as the No. 4 Blue Dragons rolled to a 49-7 Jayhawk Conference victory over Coffeyville on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons improve to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Dragons improve their outright lead in the KJCCC to a full-game over Garden City, which was ide on Saturday. Coffeyville sees a two-game winning streak snapped and falls to 2-6 and 1-4 in the KJCCC.

The Dragons rebounded from last week's upset 29-27 loss at Highland, which ended their run at No. 1 in the NJCAA Rankings at five weeks.

Hutchinson jumped out to a 21-0 lead just 12 second into the second quarter. Wright threw touchdown passes of 22 yards to Cortez Braham, 14 yards to Mitchell Tinsley and 23 yards to Stacey Marshall to build their 21-0 lead.

Coffeyville answered back with a four-play scoring drive to cut the Dragon lead to 21-7 with 13:06 remaining in the second quarter. From that point, the Dragon defense shut out the Red Ravens and defeated Coffeyville for the fourth-consecutive time and for the 12th time in the last 14 meeting since 2008.

After Coffeyville's touchdown, Hutchinson limited the Red Ravens to only 75 rushing yards and 61 passing yards over the final 41 minutes, 54 seconds. The Ravens missed a field goal, turned the ball over on downs and had two giveaways in their final 11 possessions.

Hutchinson racked up 512 offensive yards with a season-high 307 yards coming on the round. Sophomore Erin Collins had a season-high 99 rushing yards on 15 carries with a 2-yard touchdown run. Jonathan White had 50 yards on three carries and a 41-yard touchdown run. Kendall Cross had 49 rushing yards, Tiyon Evans had 43 yards and a 33-yard touchdown run.

Wright finished with 41 rush yards on five carries and completed 15 of 23 passes for 171 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

Tinsley made six catches for 93 yards and at touchdowns. Jalen Roach made five catches for 45 yards. Braham had three receptions for 39 yards.

Lavar Gardner led the way defensively with nine total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. Hutch had four sacks and got fumble recoveries from Ronald Williams and Gereme Spraggins. Isaiah Todd had an interception.

The Blue Dragons scored on 3 of their first four possessions of the game.

Braham's 22-yard touchdown pass from Wright capped a 10-play, 60-yard drive to open the game. After the teams traded turnovers, Hutch needed only four plays to cover 37 yards for its second score of the game. Tinsley caught a 14-yard touchdown pass for a 14-0 lead with 3:13 remaining in the first quarter.

Just 12 second into the second quarter, Marshall caught his first touchdown pass of the season, Wright's third of the game, on a 23-yard scoring strike for a 21-0 lead with 14:48 remaining in the second quarter. The Ravens marched 74 yards in four plays to get on the board with Titan Williams caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Aubrey Williams to cut the Dragon lead to 21-7 with 13:06 to go in the quarter.

The Dragons were going into a strong southerly wind and punted on their next four possessions. The half ended with a rushed field-goal attempt that missed wide left on the final play of the half.

Coffeyville missed a field goal and missed a 37-yard field goal in the third quarter, while Hutch punted on its first two possessions. The Dragons finally got points going into the wind with a six-play, 65-yard scoring drive that was capped off by back-up quarterback Shariif Brown's 5-yard touchdown run that gave the Dragons a 28-7 lead with 3:20 to play in the third quarter.

Hutchinson added three rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Collins had a 2-yard scoring run, Evans rolled in from 33 yards out and White burst up the middle for a 41-yard touchdown run.

Hutchinson outgained Coffeyville 229-108 in the second half, rushing for 113 yards in the fourth quarter alone.
