Sophomore defensive end Latrell Bankston was a disruptive force for the No. 1-rankedHutchinson Community College defense against No. 17 Fort Scott in a 27-7 victory on Saturday in Fort Scott.

Bankston's performance earned him Jayhawk Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1, 299-pound defensive tackle from Woodstock, Georgia, led the Blue Dragons to a dominant defensive performance that totaled eight sacks against the Greyhounds and 18 sacks in the last two games.

Bankston was in on seven total tackles Saturday, but five were tackles for loss tallying 29 yards. Bankston had a career-high four quarterback sacks against the Greyhounds.

Through four games, Bankston has seven quarterback sacks.

Bankston is the third Blue Dragon to earn Jayhawk Conference weekly honors. In week 2, quarterback Mark Wright won Offensive Player of the Week honors. Last week, return specialist Tiyon Evans was named the Special Teams player of the week for both the KJCCC and NJCAA.
