The September gauntlet of nationally ranked opponents continues on Saturday for the No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College football team as the Blue Dragons are on the road for the second-straight week, this time to meet the 17th-ranked Fort Scott Greyhounds.

Kickoff at Frary Field in Fort Scott is 7 p.m. The game can be heard on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. The broadcast starts with Countdown to Kickoff at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 6:50 p.m.

The Blue Dragons will see nothing but opponents ranked the current NJCAA rankings in the month of September. Last week the grueling schedule started in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with a 34-27 victory over No. 7 Iowa Western. After Saturday's showdown at No. 17 Fort Scott, the Blue Dragons will have a bye week before a showdown with No. 2 Butler on September 28 at Gowans Stadium.

Blue Dragon head coach Rion Rhoades makes his first attempt at career milestone win No. 100 on Saturday. Rhoades' first coaching victory came against Independence on September 9, 2006 as the head coach of the Fort Scott Greyhounds. Rhoades has 92 wins with the Blue Dragons and seven victories in his only season as the Fort Scott head coach. Rhoades is fourth on the all-time Jayhawk Conference coaching wins' list.

Last week at No. 7 Iowa Western, the Blue Dragon defense racked up 10 quarterback sacks - the Dragons had five sacks in the fourth quarter alone - and held the Reivers to less than 50 rushing yards in that 34-27 win at Titan Field. The Blue Dragons outgained Iowa Western 369-231 and had a 25-11 first-down advantage as well as a 13-minute advantage in time of possession. Freshman returner Tiyon Evans had the play of the game when he opened the second have with a scintillating 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Fort Scott had last week off. Before that, the Greyhounds earned two Jayhawk Conference victories defeating No. 16 Highland 20-16 on opening week and then pounded Coffeyville 40-29 two weeks ago. The Greyhounds led the Red Ravens 34-7 at halftime.

The Hutchinson-Fort Scott series has had some bizarre games in their first 75 encounters. Two games have gone to overtime with both games at Frary Field. The Dragons lost to Fort Scott 38-35 in double overtime in 2000, but won wild four-overtime matchup with the Hounds two years later 30-24. The believe-it-or-not stat about that game was the Hutch completed just 1 of 20 passes for three yards in regulation time, but quarterback Justin Pond threw three touchdown passes in overtime.

In 2013, the Blue Dragons rallied from 22 points down at Gowans Stadium for a 63-39 victory.

In Fort Scott head coach Cale Pick's first season with the Greyhounds two years ago, he upset the Blue Dragons 29-24 at Gowans Stadium.
