Some games require a lot of hyperbole for a build up. That is not the case on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

The No. 4 Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons take on No. 2 Garden City with a Jayhawk Conference championship on the line and national title game implications attached.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister station KWBW-AM (1450) beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Countdown to Kickoff. Rusty Hilst (play-by-play), Rob Dreher (analysis) and Glen Grunwald (sidelines) will call the action. The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network with the link available at 11:50 a.m.

If Hutchinson wins, the Blue Dragons win their first Jayhawk Conference title since 2014. If Garden City wins, the Busters clinch a tie for the title with a chance to win it outright next Saturday.

The Blue Dragons enter Saturday's game with two full weeks of rest since a 45-7 win at Dodge City on October 20.

The Blue Dragons rolled up 444 total yards against Dodge City two weeks ago with a season-high 314 yards coming on the ground.

Sophomore Dezmon Jackson rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He is now at 887 yards and two TDs for the season.

Freshman linebacker Monty Montgomery has three defensive touchdowns in his last two games, taking both a fumble and interception back for touchdowns in Hutch's 45-7 victory over Dodge City two weeks away.

One of the key matchups will be Hutchinson's NJCAA No. 4 rushing defense against Garden City's nation-leading rushing offense and the Nos. 2 and 3 rushers in the nation in Dedrick Mills (1,291 yards) and Charles West (1,072 yards).

The Blue Dragons are allowing 52.9 rushing yards per contest and have held 5 of 8 opponents to less than 50 yards.

The Broncbusters, who won the NJCAA national championship in 2016, defeated Coffeyville 51-15 one week ago in Coffeyville. The Busters racked up 338 yards on the ground on 71 carries. Garden City's defense held Coffeyville to 158 yards, just 17 on the ground.

Next week, Hutch plays Iowa Central at Gowans Stadium, while Garden City plays host to Butler.

Last year Hutch won 31-28 in Garden City.
