Hutchinson Community College sophomore running back Dezmon Jackson was named the Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Week after a career-best rushing game that helped the Blue Dragons to another victory over a nationally ranked team.

Jackson, a 6-foot, 219-point sophomore from El Dorado, Arkansas, had a career-high 167 rushing yards on 26 carries and made some key runs in No. 5 Hutchinson's eventual game-winning drive to defeat No. 13 Highland 16-13 at Gowans Stadium.

Jackson accounted for 202 all-purpose yards and had a 5-yard touchdown run. But with the game tied at 13 in the final 2 minutes, Jackson broke loose for runs of 15 and 44 yards on Hutch's 6-play, 60-yard scoring drive that was capped by a 37-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining in the game.

Jackson has now rushed for a team-high 577 yards with six touchdowns and a 6.3 yard-per-carry average.

This is Jackson's second conference Player of the Week award. He was the Jayhawk's Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 1. Jackson is the seventh time the Blue Dragons have been awarded a KJCCC Player of the Week award.
