Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Hutchinson Community College freshman kicker Sebastian Garcia has been named the NJCAA Football Special Team Player of the Week.

One day after earning Jayhawk Conference weekly honors, Garcia becomes the first Blue Dragon since Tanner Stallings was the national offensive player of the week in 2015.

Garcia's perfect day was capped by a school-record 48-yard field goal early in the third quarter of last Saturday's 61-21 victory over Fort Scott at Gowans Stadium.

Garcia was perfect on six extra-point attempts and was 2 of 2 on field goals. He kicked a 33-yarder in a 24-point second quarter.

Garcia is the third Jayhawk Conference athlete to earn NJCAA national honors in the first four weeks of the season. He joins Dedrick Mills of Garden City, the offensive player of the week in Week 1, and Alvinoski Lafleur, the defensive player of the week last week.

Garcia and the Blue Dragons will play RPA at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Gowans Stadium.
