Hutchinson Community College sophomore linebacker Guy Victoria was named the Jayhawk Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar outing on Saturday at Garden City.

Victoria's efforts helped the Blue Dragons knock off No. 11-ranked Garden City 31-28 on Saturday at Broncbuster Field.

A 6-foot-2, 228-pound linebacker from Huber Heights, Ohio, had eight total tackles, including five solo stops. He had one quarterback sack.

Perhaps the biggest play was an interception in the fourth quarter that helped set up a huge 27-yard field goal that gave the Dragons a 31-21 lead at that point in the game.

That field goal proved to be the difference in the game.

This is the fourth-straight week that a Blue Dragon has earned conference player of the week honors. Victoria is the third-straight defensive player to be tapped as the player of the week.
