For the third-straight week, a Hutchinson Community College football player has earned Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors.

This week, freshman linebacker Drew Harvey was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore placekicker Luke Niemeyer was named the KJCCC Special Teams Player of the Week after the 2-1 Blue Dragons rolled past Rezolution Prep 91-0 on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

Harvey and Niemeyer are the third and fourth Blue Dragon players to earn Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors this season.

Harvey, a 6-foot-1, 239-pound linebacker from Crete, Illinois, helped the Blue Dragons break one record and tie another last Saturday against Rezolution Prep.

Harvey had four total tackles, including two solo tackles, including one quarterback sack for five yards. He also had an interception, which was returned 20 yards for a touchdown.

The interception helped tie a Blue Dragon single-game record with five total interceptions in one game. The return for a touchdown was one of a school single-game record three pick-six's for the Dragons.

Niemeyer, a 6-foot, 166-pound kicker from St. George, Kansas, broke the Blue Dragon single-game record for point-after touchdown kicks.

Niemeyer was a perfect 14 of 14 on PAT kicks, which helped the Blue Dragons break a single-game scoring record. Niemeyer is 21 of 21 on extra-point kicks this season.

Both Harvey and Niemeyer are now eligible for NJCAA National Player of the Week honors. They will be announced on Wednesday.
