RECORDS FALL IN BLUE DRAGON ROUT OF REZOLUTION PREP

Thirteen different players scored touchdowns as the Hutchinson Community College football team did a significant re-write of the Blue Dragon single-game record book on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons scored the most points in 86 seasons of football in a 91-0 blowout of Rezolution Prep.

Hutchinson improves to 2-1 heading into next week's road showdown at No. 3 Garden City. The Wildcats are 0-1.

The Blue Dragons broke or tied seven team and individual single-game records on Saturday. Those records to fall were:

+ Most points scored – 91 (broke the 2011 record of 90 vs. Highland).
+ Largest margin of victory – 91 (broke the 2011 record of 83 vs. Highland).
+ Most touchdowns – 13 (tied the 2011 record set against Highland).
+ Most Interceptions – 5 (tied the 2001 record set against Dodge City).
+ Most Interceptions returned for touchdowns – 3 (broke record of 2 set vs. Highland in 2011).
+ Most PATs – 13 (broke old record of 12 vs. Highland in 2011).
+ Most individual PATs – Luke Niemeyer, 13 (broke record of Michael Mesh of 12 vs. Highland in 2011).

The Blue Dragons now own 2 of the 3 top single-game scoring performances in NJCAA history.

Rezolution Prep lost a fumble on the game's first play from scrimmage. Two plays later, B.J. Emmons started the scoring march with a 5-yard touchdown run just 36 seconds into the game.

Deshawn Waller (8-yard run), Otis Williams (7-yard run) and a Johnny Lumpkin touchdown catch (14 yards from Eric Forrest) gave Hutch a 28-0 lead after one quarter.

Dezmon Jackson started the second quarter with a 36-yard touchdown run. Marcus Edwards caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from Forrest. Kendel Robinson took an interception back 57 yards for a touchdown. Bradley Dee then had a 22-yard scoring run and Lawson Holbert had a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown for a 35-point quarter and Hutch led 63-0 at halftime.

With a running clock in the second half, the Dragons scored three third-quarter touchdowns. Tavian Allen caught a 29-yard touchdown catch. Drew Harvey returned an interception for a 20-yard touchdown and Kai Lemons caught a 7-yard touchdown pass to build an 84-0 lead after three quarters.

Darian Lewis scored the only fourth quarter touchdown on a 17-yard sprint into the end zone. Niemeyer's extra point broke the all-time Blue Dragon single-game scoring record.
Offensively, the Blue Dragons racked up a season-high 501 yards of total offense, getting 361 yards on the ground and 140 more passing. Hutch had 22 first downs to RPA's four.

Forrest completed 5 of 8 passes for 107 yards and four touchdowns to lead a list of several players who contributed on Saturday.

Andrew Lee was the Dragons' leading rushing with 78 yards on eight carries. Jackson had 65 yards and a touchdown on just two carries. Devin Miller had 58 yards on seven attempts. Edwards had two catches for 66 yards.

Hutchinson's defense held Rezolution Prep to a negative-52 yards total offense – the second fewest yards allowed in Blue Dragon history. The Wildcats rushed for a minus-59 yards and three quarterbacks were just 3 of 15 passing for seven yards with five interceptions. RSA ran 47 total plays with 21 going for negative yardage and six other plays going for turnovers. Hutchinson tallied a season-high eight quarterback sacks.

Hutchinson will play at No. 3 Garden City at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Broncbusters Stadium in Garden City.
