Freshman receiver Jaylen Erwin had a huge impact in his first game for the Hutchinson Community College football team in helping the Blue Dragons pull off the biggest comeback in school history on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Erwin was recognized for that performance by being named the Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Erwin, a 6-foot-1, 187-pound freshman from Charlotte, North Carolina, was a big-play threat in Hutchinson's come-from-behind 50-42 victory over Coffeyville at Gowans Stadium.

Erwin made three catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns to help Hutch rally from 25 points down just 21 minutes into the game.

Erwin caught a 44-yard touchdown strike just before halftime to pull the Dragons within 25-23. He then caught a 57-yard TD strike with 13:56 remaining in the game to give the Dragons a 43-42 lead.

Erwin also had three kickoff returns with a long of 28. He averaged 25.3 yards per kickoff return.

Erwin is now eligible for NJCAA National Player of the Week honors. That will be announced on Wednesday.
