HAYS – For the second time in the past seven days, the Hutchinson Community College baseball team reached the 20-run mark in a game, run-ruling the McCook Indians 20-10 in a midweek game played on Tuesday at Larks' Park in Hays.

The Blue Dragons pounded out 20 hits, including five for extra bases. Hutchinson scored in 6 of its 7 offensive innings, which included an eight-run third inning and a six-run sixth inning. The Dragons have now put together 18 innings this season in which they scored five or more runs.

Collin Cymbalista and Cody Gunderson led the Blue Dragons to a season-high 21-hit attack on Tuesday.

Cymbalista went 5 for 5 with four singles and a double, while Gunderson tied a career high with five RBIs.

Cymbalista tied nine other Blue Dragons for the second-most hits in a single game. He had four singles and a double and was on base in all six plate appearances with a walk. Cymbalista scored two runs and had two RBIs with a two-run double in Hutchinson's six-run sixth inning.

Gunderson matched his five-RBI game one week ago against Cowley with five against McCook on Tuesday. Gunderson was 2 for 4 with an RBI single in the first inning, a three-run home run in Hutchinson's eight-run third inning and a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the fifth inning.

Each Blue Dragon starter had at least one hit and 8 of 9 player had at least one RBIs.

Jon Davis had a career-high four hits, going 4 for 5 with a double and four runs scored.

Hank Griffin had career bests with three hits, three runs and four runs batted in. Griffin added a double.

Cooper Wesslund, Jackson Summers and Jarrett Herrman had two RBIs each.

Five pitchers were used by the Blue Dragons on Tuesday. Ashton Perkins (1-0) was credited with the win with 1 2-3 scoreless innings of relief. He had two strikeouts.

The 18-8 Blue Dragons return to Jayhawk West play on Thursday with Games 1 and 2 of the four-game conference series against Colby beginning at 1 p.m. at Hobart-Detter Field.
