BALDWIN CITY – Ben McLaughlin, Ryan Henderson and Cade Baker drove in five runs each as the Hutchinson Community College baseball team combined for 27 runs and 27 hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Baker University Junior Varsity on Tuesday.

McLaughlin and Henderson both homered in Game 1 as Hutchinson won the first game 9-4 over the Wildcats. Henderson hit a second home run and the Blue Dragons racked up 18 hits in a 17-5 six-inning rule-rule victory over the Wildcats in the second game.

The doubleheader with the Baker JV was a make-up of a canceled home game scheduled for Tuesday against NOC-End at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Blue Dragons are now 23-18 overall. Hutchinson returns to conference play on Thursday at Colby with the final two games of the four-game series with the Trojans on Saturday at Hobart-Detter Field.

GAME 1 RECAP
McLaughlin led the Blue Dragons, going 2 for 4 with a double, home run and four RBIs. McLaughlin hit a three-run home run in a four-run fourth inning. He added an RBI double in a three-run seventh inning.

Henderson went 1 for 3 with a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Hunter Gotreaux and Jon Jenkins had two hits each. Jack Torosian doubled and Jenkins had a triple.

The Blue Dragons out-hit Baker 10-8.

Will Edmunson was the winning pitcher, working a season-high five innings in the start. Edmunson allowed five hits and two unearned runs while striking out five and walking two. Noah Kelley struck out the side in a scoreless sixth inning. Reed Scott worked the seventh.

GAME 2 RECAP
Baker had career highs with four hits and five RBIs to lead the Blue Dragons in Game 2. Baker went 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles. Baker had an RBI single in the fifth inning and two two-run doubles in Hutchinson's eight-run sixth inning.

Henderson was 3 for 4 with a double, home run and three RBIs.

McLaughlin, P.J. Loucks, Jenkins and Edmunson all had two hits each. McLaughlin, Loucks, Bodi Wallar and Jenkins also doubled in the game.

The Blue Dragons used five pitchers in the game. Starter Luke Hornberger struck out six in three inning. Kaden Wickersham earned the pitching victory with a scoreless four inning. Wickersham struck out two.
