MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team was held to a season-low three hits as Rose State defeated the Blue Dragons 7-2 in the opening game of a three-game series on Friday.

Jon Jenkins, Booga de la Garza and Ryan Henderson had the only hits off three different Rose State pitchers.

De la Garza gave the Dragons a 1-0 lead with an RBI single that drove in Sterling Sutcliffe in the second inning. The only other run was a Jenkins' solo home run in the fourth inning, which cut a Rose State lead to 3-2.

Jackson Blue (1-1) started and worked the first three innings. Blue allowed only two hits, but five walks and was stung by a fielding error that led to two runs in the bottom of the second that gave Rose State a 2-1 lead. Blue allowed three runs, only one earned.

Ryan Schlotzhauer struck out a career-high 10 batters over four innings of work. Schlotzhauer surrendered four runs, three hits and two walks. He also hit two batters.

Noah Kelley made his 2022 season debut in the eighth and worked one scoreless inning with a hit batter.

Clayton Frazier went 2 for 4 with a double and home run to lead Rose State, which had six total hits. Frazier drove in three runs.

The Blue Dragons and Raiders will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at Noon to close out the three-game series.
