Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College baseball team returns to Hobart-Detter Field Saturday with hopes of winning its four-game series with the Coffeyville Red Ravens.

Games 3 and 4 of the series will be Saturday at 2 and 4:30 p.m. at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson. Game times were pushed back one hour to allowed the field a little more drying time from Thursday night rains.

The Blue Dragons won Games 1 and 2 from the Red Ravens on Thursday in Coffeyville.

Austin Callahan tied a single-game record with three doubles and homers in a 4-for-4, five RBI performance in 12-3 victory in the first game of the series. The Blue Dragons scored two unearned runs in the eighth inning to claim the second game of the series 10-8.

The Blue Dragons enter play on Saturday with a 4-3 record. The Ravens have lost four in a row and are 1-4.

Offensively, the Blue Dragons are hitting .320 and are averaging 9.6 runs per game. Callahan leads Hutchinson offensively with a .583 average, four home runs and 12 RBIs.

The Blue Dragons continue to tune the collective pitching staff. Hutch has a team ERA of 8.81 and have allowed 16 home runs in just 48 innings of work. Opposing teams are hitting .330 against Dragon pitching this season.

Sophomore Zach Firmature earned his second win of the season with five strong innings. The Dragons used nine different pitchers, by design, in Game two. P.J. Loucks was the winning pitcher and Ben McLaughlin earned the save.

Blue Dragon head coach Ryan Schmidt is now just eight wins shy of moving past Kyle Crookes into second place on the Blue Dragon coaching wins list. John Burgi is the record holder with 314 wins in the Blue Dragon dugout.
