The Hutchinson Community College baseball team recorded its first no-hitter in 13 years with a five-pitcher combined effort to finish off a home-opening sweep of the Tabor College junior varsity on Wednesday at Hobart-Detter Field.

Ryan Schlotzhauer, Luke Hornberger, Zane Covey, Caden Pogue and Sammy Sanchez and teamed up to no-hit Tabor in a 10-0 five-inning victory in Game 2. The Blue Dragons also run-ruled the Blue Jays 13-3 in Game 1.

Hutchinson improves to 2-1. It was the first games for the Blue Dragons since February 2 at NOC-Enid.

Wednesday's no-hitter was the first by the Blue Dragons since March 29, 2008 when Mitch Stubenhofer twirled a no-hitter against Garden City. Since then, there have been four one-hitters and seven two-hitters by Blue Dragon pitchers.

Schlotzhauer got the start and worked one inning with two strikeouts and one walk. Hornberger had two strikeouts and a groundout in a 1-2-3 second inning. Covey allowed a leadoff walk in the third. That runner was immediately erased when catcher Daniel Bebee threw him out on a steal attempt. Covey then registers a strikeout and groundout.

Pogue struck out one in the fourth and Sanchez worked the fifth, striking out the side.

The Blue Dragons led 5-0 entering the fifth inning and exploded for five runs in the bottom of the frame to finish off the no-hitter. Pinch-hitter Jon Jenkins capped the inning with an RBI single to score Bebee with the 10th run of the game.

The Blue Dragons had seven hits in the game and took advantage of eight Tabor walks.

No Blue Dragon had more than one hit. Austin Callahan hit a two-run home run and Will Reetz smacked a two-run triple.

The Blue Dragons had six total stolen bases. Jack Torosian had two steals.
