MELISSA, Texas – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team extended its winning streak to four games with an extra-inning victory and a rule-rule triumph to start its four-game weekend trip to Texas.

Hutchinson defeated TCS Post-Grad Academy 5-2 in eight innings and then 18-4 in seven innings on Friday to improve to 7-2 overall. This was Hutch's third doubleheader sweep of the season.

The Blue Dragons will play Northeast Texas Community College at Fort Work Christian High School in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. The Blue Dragons were originally scheduled to play North Central Texas in a three-game series in Mt. Pleasant, but field conditions forced the Dragons to find other games.

GAME 1 RECAP
Tied at 2-all through seven innings, sophomore Jeremiah Ceasar – he was making his season debut after missing the first seven games with an injury – led off the top of the eighth with a home run to give the Blue Dragons a lead for the second time in the game. Tyler Delong drove in two big insurances runs with a two-out single to right that scored Luke Sartori and Will Reetz.

Caden Pogue earned his first win of the season with a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth that included one strikeout.

The game was scoreless through four innings. TCS took a 1-0 lead in the fifth, but the Dragons answered back in the sixth when Jenner Steele hit a two-run home run with two out to give the Dragons a 2-1 lead. TCS tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Pogue entered the game in the bottom of the seventh. After allowing a leadoff since in the seventh, Pogue retired the next six batters he faced with three strikeouts.

Steele had a season-high three hits, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs and his third home run of the season to lead a seven-hit Hutchison attack. Cade Argo and Sartori had the other Blue Dragon hits.

Starter Dawson Linder worked the first six innings on the mound for the Blue Dragons. He struck out six and walked two while allowing two earned runs and five hits for a no-decision.

GAME 2 RECAP
The Blue Dragons had three huge innings and pounded out a season-high 18 hits and five home runs in Game 2's seven-inning run-rule victory.

Freshman Austin Callahan hit two home runs and drove in a season-high five runs to lead the Blue Dragons offensively. Callahan was 3 for 4 with a double with three runs to lead the Dragons. His first home runs came in a six-run first inning and leading off the fourth.

Cole Cosman, Will Reetz and Sartori also homered for the Blue Dragons

The Dragons scored six in the first, five in the third and six more in the fifth to roll past TCS in the second game. The Dragons had six doubles and five home runs.

Mason Lowe also had a season-high three hits for the Dragons. Sartori, Steele, Delong and Will Reetz had two hits each.

Brian Skillman (2-0) worked the first four innings on the mound for the Dragons to earn the win. He struck out seven and walked only one in four shutout innings. Skillman allowed just two hits in the game.

Eli Riggs works a scoreless fifth. Josh Mitchell was touched for four runs in the sixth and Jake Brown strike out two in a spotless seventh inning.
