Hutchinson Community College sophomore Dylan Nedved picked up a save and complete-game victory and helped the Blue Dragons to a share of the 2019 Jayhawk West championship last week.

This week, the sophomore two-way player from Shawnee was named both the Jayhawk Conference Pitcher of the Week and NJCAA Division I National Pitcher of the week. The national award was announced on Wednesday.

Nedved pitched 2-3 inning in a 6-3 Hutchinson victory at Cloud County to earn his second save of the season last Thursday at Concordia.

Nedved then tossed his first complete game of the season, scattering five hits over seven innings and allowing one unearned run while striking out 10 in a 3-1 Blue Dragon victory that clinched its share of the Jayhawk West crown last Saturday in a neutral-site game at McPherson. Nedved helped his own cause with a solo home run in the late innings to give the Blue Dragons a two-run lead.

Nedved is the second Blue Dragon this season to earn national honors. Zane Schmidt was named the National Player of the Week on April 3.
