NEOSHO, Mo. – As if the unrelenting winter weather weren't enough, Friday added to the Hutchinson Community College baseball team's frustration.

Playing the No. 9-ranked Crowder College Roughriders in a doubleheader to make up for games lost in February, the No. 20-ranked Blue Dragons left a combined 18 runners on base as Hutchinson saw its four-game winning streak snapped after losses of 9-3 and 6-5.

The Blue Dragons fall to 9-5 overall while Crowder, a 2018 Junior College World Series participant, improves to 14-3 with the sweep of Hutchinson.

GAME 2 RECAP
The Blue Dragons jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings and led 5-3 at the seventh-inning stretch in the second game.

Crowder quickly turned things around in the bottom of the seventh with a Brinson Williams RBI single and a Quinn Cherry two-run homer to left off relief pitcher Jake Bunz (2-1).

Hutchinson had plenty of chances to blow the game open, going 6 for 22 with runners in scoring position and stranding 14 runners in the game.

Hutch scored three runs in the second on RBI singles from Ryan Moritz and Luke Sartori. Max McGuire scored on a Crowder error. The Blue Dragons made it 4-0 on Zane Schmidt's fourth home run of the season with one out in the fourth.

From that point, the Blue Dragons had 11 baserunners and produced only one run when Dylan Nedved singled home McGuire to make it 5-3.

The hit in the seventh was Nedved's 100th career hit, the 39th Blue Dragon to do so in team history.

Hutchinson out-hit Crowder 11-10 with Schmidt, Zach Baxley and McGuire collecting two hits each.

Starting pitcher Mike Brown pitched well over 5 1-3 innings. He allowed six hits, three runs, two earned runs while striking out three and walking two. Bunz worked 2 2-3 inning with three strikeouts and allowed four hits and three earned runs.

Crowder broke the first game open with a five-run fifth, with four of the five runs unearned and the fifth run scoring on a walk.

The Roughriders led 2-0 after two innings. Hutch cut the lead on half when Schmidt singled home McGuire, who walked with one out.

Crowder's faithful fifth inning started with a leadoff walk. With two out, an error kept the inning alive for Crowder and ended the day for starter Miguel Reyes (1-1). Relief pitcher Matt Delcambre walked his first batter to load the bases and issued a walk for a 3-1 Roughrider lead. Williams then laced a three-run double to right-center to break the game open.
