After multiple attempts to play the 2019 home opener last weekend, the Hutchinson Community College baseball team will get to do so on Wednesday.

The 20th-ranked Blue Dragons will play host to the Coffeyville Red Ravens at 1 p.m. Wednesday in a pair of seven-inning games.

Wednesday's games will not be videostreamed by the Blue Dragon Sports Network because of previous scheduling commitments. Both games will be continuously updated on the Blue Dragon Twitter Page (@bluedragonsport).

Hutchinson traveled to Coffeyville in the season opener on February 2. The teams split those games – Hutchinson winning 11-8 and the Red Ravens held on in the nightcap 9-7.

Riley Metzger had two home runs and five RBIS and Logan Sartori drove in four with three hits, including a homer in Hutch's 11-8 victory. The Blue Dragons fell behind fell behind 7-0 in the second game before rallying to within 9-7.

The Blue Dragons were supposed to play Highland and Indian Hills last Friday, Saturday and Sunday to open the season at home. Frigid temperatures wiped out all four games.

Coffeyville found itself in the same boat as the Blue Dragons with a weekend series zapped by Mother Nature.

Thus Wednesday's doubleheader was put together.

Wednesday's games will be key for the Blue Dragons as Hutchinson heads to Texas this weekend to play Northeast Texas in Mount Pleasant.

The Blue Dragons return home for a doubleheader next Tuesday at Hobart-Detter Field.
