Staring elimination right in the face Saturday, Hutchinson Community College sophomore Wyatt Divis put the Blue Dragons on his back at Hobart-Detter Field.

Divis drove in Hutchinson's first run of the game and the proceeded to toss his first complete game in more than a year to lead the Blue Dragons to a 7-2 victory over the Coffeyville Red Ravens in Game 2 of the Region VI Tournament best-of-3 Opening Round Series.

The decisive third game of the series will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Hobart-Detter Field. There is no admission. The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network. Sunday's winner advances to the Central District Tournament at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita.

Divis retired the first eight Red Ravens he faced. He then went a stretch of five innings without allowing a hit. The only baserunner in that stretch was a leadoff walk in the seventh, but the Blue Dragons erased that with a 6-4-3 double play.

Divis (4-1) had five strikeouts in his first career nine-inning complete game. He allowed four hits and two earned runs and two walks.

After struggling offensively in Game 1, Divis had an RBI double to score Logan Sartori in the first inning to spark a three-run opening inning against Coffeyville starter Hunter McMahon. Bobby Morgensen then added an RBI double and Dylan Nedved had a two-out RBI single to make it 3-0 Blue Dragons after one inning.

Morgensen made it 4-0 in the second with an RBI groundout that plated Sartori. The Dragons added two more runs in the fourth with a Morgensen bases-loaded walk and Garrett Stephens' fielder's choice. Julian Rip had an RBI single in the seventh to make it 7-1 Hutch.

Morgensen drove in three runs going 1 for 4 with a double. Sartori was 2 for 4 with three runs scored. Divis went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI. Zion Bowlin was 2 for 3 with a walk and run scored.

The Blue Dragons out-hit Coffeyville 10-4.
