EL RENO, Oklahoma – Sophomore Wyatt Divis had career highs for hits, runs scored and RBIs to lead the Hutchinson Community College baseball team to a 17-7 victory over the Redlands Cougars on Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Dragons now have a season-high 10-game winning streak to improve to 32-17 overall.
Divis went a career-best 4 for 5 to lead Hutchinson's 16-hit attack on Tuesday. He drove in a career-high five runs and scored a career-high four runs.
Divis opened the day with a solo home run. He added an RBI single in the third for a 3-1 Dragon lead. He added another RBI single in the fourth. He had a two-run single in a seven-run seventh inning.
Off a 5 for 5 game on Sunday, Dylan Nedved followed that game going 3 for 5 with two RBIs. Ryan Moritz also went 3 for 5.
The Blue Dragons took advantage of nine walks, seven hit batsmen and five Cougar errors.
Brock Schaffer went 1 for 5 to extend his hittting streak to 16-straight games.
Zach Moore went 5 1-3 innings to learn the victory on the mound. He allowed five hits and earned runs with three strikeouts and three walks. Hutch used four relief pitchers. Matt Hopkins worked 1 1-3 scoreless innings and Colin Frondorf worked two-thirds of an inning.
Hutchinson led 8-2 through six innings when it exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning.
The Blue Dragons will close out the regular season with a four-game series against Seaward County beginning with two games at Liberal on Thursday and will conclude with two games at Hobart-Detter Field on Saturday.
