LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team combined for 31 runs, 25 hits to open a four-game series with Longview Community College on Thursday with a pair of blowout victories.

Freshman Mike Brown tossed another complete game as the Blue Dragons run-ruled the Lakers 11-1 in the first game. The Blue Dragons then pounded out 17 hits and had three different batters with three RBIs as Hutch blew out Longview 20-6 in Game 2.

The Blue Dragons are now a season-high seven games over .500 at 24-17. Hutchinson and Longview close out the four-game set with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. at Longview.

GAME 1 RECAP
Brown followed his two-hit shutout last week against Garden City with his second-straight complete game on Thursday.

Not allowing a hit through the first three innings, Brown's first hit allowed was a leadoff home run to Dalton Bealmer to open the fourth inning. Brown allowed just three hits, one earned run and two walks with four strikeouts.

The Blue Dragons led 5-1 through four innings and exploded for six runs in the sixth. Zion Bowling had a two-run double and the Dragons got a bases-loaded hit by pitch to Logan Sartori and bases-loaded walks to Bobby Morgensen and Garrett Stephens to lead 11-1.

Hutchinson had eight hits, but took advantage of eight hit by pitches and seven walks by two Longview pitchers.

Zack Baxley led Hutchinson offensively with 3 for 5 at the plate, including two doubles and a two-run single in the fourth inning.

Stephens was 1 for 2 with a two-run home run in the first inning and three RBIs. Sartori had a double in four at-bats with two runs scored. Morgensen was on base five hits with a single, three hit by pitches and an RBI bases-loaded walk.

GAME 2 RECAP
The Blue Dragons reached the 20-run mark for the second time this season as five Hutch players had multi-hit games and seven had multi-RBI games.

Sartori had his fourth four-hit game of the season going 4 for 6 with a double and three runs scored.

Morgensen was on base in 6 of 7 plate appearances, going 3 for 6 with a two-run double, three RBIs two runs and a stolen base. Ryan Moritz, Brock Schaffer, Julian Rip and Ryan Stoecklein all had two hits.

Scott Wolverton drove in three runs with a bases-loaded walk and two-run double. Stoecklein hit his third home run of the season and had three RBIs.

Ryan Moritz, Brock Schaffer and Rip had two RBIs. Riley Metzger scored three runs and had two RBIs.

Mason Palmier evened his pitching record at 2-2 with five innings of work for the victory. Palmier gave up a pair of three-run innings in the first and fifth innings.

The Blue Dragon bullpen – Dayden Lane for one, Matt Hopkins for one and Gage Wall for two innings – worked four scoreless innings and only one hit allowed with three strikeouts,
