GREAT BEND – Logan Sartori sent the first pitch of the game on Tuesday over the right-field wall at Lawson-Biggs Field. From that point, it went downhill for the Hutchinson Community College baseball team against No. 18 Barton.

The Cougars produced three innings of three or more runs as the Blue Dragons fell 14-4 in seven innings in a non-conference matchup. Earlier this season, Barton took 3 of 4 league games from the Blue Dragons.

Hutchinson falls to 22-17 heading into a four-game non-conference series on Thursday and Friday against Longview Community College in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

After Sartori's eighth home run of the season to lead off the game, Barton broke the game open with three runs in the second inning and four more in the third on a solo home run from Carson Engroff and a three-run home run by Dawson Pomeroy in the third to lead 7-1 after three innings.

After a Sartori two-out RBI double drove in Riley Metzger to pull the Dragons within 7-2, Barton scored one in the fourth and then plated six earned runs in the fifth to lead 14-2.

Sartori went 2 for 4 with a double and home run with a run and two RBIs to lead Hutchinson's five-hit attack.

Brock Schaffer went 2 for 3 with a double and triple and a run scored. Metzger had the only other Blue Dragon hit.

Barton racked up 14 hits, including four extra base hit.

Starting pitcher Ryan Junker (202) pitched three inning and was tagged with the loss. He allowed seven hits and seven earned runs.

Zach Moore worked 1 2-3 innings, while Metzger tossed the final 1 1-3 innings.
