Zach Baxley and Zion Bowlin had three RBIs each as the Hutchinson Community College baseball team used an eight-run fourth inning to break open a close game and defeat the Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa Mavericks 15-5 in seven inning on Monday at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Blue Dragons improve to 22-16 with the non-conference victory, matching a mark of six games over .500 for this season. Hutchinson travels to Barton for a non-conference matchup with the Cougars at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Lawson-Biggs Field.

Hutchinson had only eight hits against the Mavericks, but took advantage of a season-high 12 walks issued by six NOC pitchers.

The Blue Dragons sent 13 batters to the plate in the decisive fourth inning. Baxley's two-run single gave the Dragons a 4-0 lead. Bowlin added a two-run single for a 6-0 lead. Dylan Nedved added a two-run triple and Bobby Morgensen added a run-scoring single to give Hutch a 9-0 lead after four innings.

Baxley went 2 for 4 with a career-high four-runs scored with a double and three RBIs. Bowlin was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Morgensen was 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Zach Philbin (1-1) worked 3 2-3 scoreless innings to earn his first career victory. Philbin allowed no runs on four hits with three walks and one strikeout. Colin Frondorf worked 1 1-3 innings and Matt Hopkins had the final two innings.
