The Blue Dragon football team has made Gowans Stadium its home since the 1930s. In addition, Gowans was also the home site of the track & field program’s premiere event – the Hutchinson Night Relays, which was ran from 1945 to 1991 and returned in 2007 after a 16-year hiatus.

Gowans Stadium has scene many additions and renovations in its lifetime, beginning with a $5.5 million project in 2004 turned the stadium into a 5,500-seat venue, added a new pressbox, installed a Field-Turf playing surface, a new track, new drainage system and the first DragonVision videoboard on its north side.
