Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Five members of the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned all-conference honors as the 2023 Division I All-Jayhawk Conference team was released on Friday afternoon.

The Blue Dragons had two first-team selections in outside hitter Taniya Golden and middle blocker Anna Dean. Setter Giovanna Ravanhani was selected to the second team. Middle blocker McKenzie Murphy and outside hitter Alejandra Briseno were honorable mention selections.

The Blue Dragons finished 24-15 overall this season and tied with Region VI champion Colby for second place in the Jayhawk Conference.

This is the second-straight season the Blue Dragons have placed five players on the all-KJCCC Volleyball team.

Golden and Dean are two-time all-conference performers. Golden is a two-time first-team all-KJCCC selection. Dean was a second-team all-league player as a freshman.

TANIYA GOLDEN – 1st Team
Golden, a 6-foot sophomore outside hitter from Omaha, Nebraska, led the nation in the regular season with 552 total kills. Golden hit .182 this season and posted 18 double-doubles as Hutchinson's No. 1 offensive option.

Golden, who completed her career with 972 total kills, second most in Blue Dragon history, also averaged 0.50 blocks per set (74 total blocks), 2.63 digs per set (392 total digs) and 0.16 aces per set (24 total aces).

Golden had a career-high 27 kills on .404 hitting in a five-set victory over Dodge City on September. She had five matches this season of 20 or more kills. Golden reached double figures in kills on 32 of 39 matches played this season.

ANNA DEAN – 1st Team
The 6-1 sophomore middle from Oswego was one of the top blockers in the nation in 2023.

Dean was second in the NJCAA in total blocks with 162 and she averaged 1.18 blocks per set, which ranked 11th in Blue Dragon single-season history. Dean had 17 matches with five ore more blocks. She tied her career single-game high of eight blocks four times this season.

Offensively, Dean hit .336, which ranked No. 12 in the nation. With 329 total kills, Dean averaged 2.40 kills per set. She also had 45 aces this season.

GIOVANNA RAVANHANI – 2nd Team
The 6-foot sophomore setter from Sao Paulo, Brazil posted the fifth-most assists by a Blue Dragon in program history with 1,265 assists this season. That worked out to 8.72 assists per set.

Ravanhani had 10 matches of four or more assists with a career-best 58 against Dodge City on September 30.

She had six double doubles.

Ravanhani averaged 0.70 kills, 1.90 digs, 0.53 blocks and 0.40 service aces this season. She had a career-high five aces against Spartanburg Methodist on September 22 and a career-best 16 digs against McCook on August 18.

McKENZIE MURPHY – Honorable Mention
A 6-foot freshman middle blocker from Fort Scott averaged 1.07 blocks per set with 145 total blocks, which is seventh most by a Blue Dragon freshman in program history. Murphy hit .293 in her freshman season with 1.26 kills per set. She had 172 total kills this season.

ALEJANDRA BRISENO – Honorable Mention
The 5'8 sophomore outside hitter from Jalisco, Mexico averaged 1.40 kills on .125 hitting. She averaged 1.98 digs per set and had 35 total blocks and 31 aces this season.
