COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team held a one-point lead over Missouri State-West Plains midway through the first set Saturday morning at the Dennis South Memorial Invitational at Reiver Arena.

From that point, the Blue Dragons dominated the Grizzlies and rolled to a 25-16, 25-10, 25-11 victory.

The Blue Dragons finish the South Memorial Classic 2-1 and are 22-11 overall. The Blue Dragons complete regular-season tournament play 10-9. The Blue Dragons play their final regular-season home match on Wednesday against Garden City for Sophomore Recognition Night. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

The Blue Dragons led the Grizzlies 13-12 in the opening set. From that point in the match, Hutchinson outscored West Plains 62-25.

Sophomore seter Giovanna Ravanhani set a balanced offensive attack with 31 assists. She added four kills.

Sophomore middle Anna Dean led the Blue Dragons with 11 kills, three total blocks and two service aces.

Sophomore Taniya Golden had nine kills and two aces. Freshman Emma Stubbs finished a strong weekend with six kills.

Defensively, Freshman libero Alondra Velez had a match-high 15 digs. Freshman Isabella Rollandini had 10 digs. Freshman Jaidynee Vontress posted a season-high 10 digs.

The Blue Dragons had six different runs of six or more unanswered points throughout the match.
