COLBY – The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team had an up-and-down offensive night and dropped a four-set Jayhawk Conference road contest on Wednesday night at Colby.

The Blue Dragons finished hitting just .091 for the match in a 25-27, 12-25, 25-21, 22-25 loss to the Trojans at the Colby Events Center. Hutchinson and Colby split the regular-season series.

The Blue Dragons are now 20-12 overall and 9-4 in the Jayhawk Conference, still in second place. The Blue Dragons will play Monroe College, Iowa Western and MSU-West Plains on Friday and Saturday at the Dennis South Memorial Classic in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Colby is now 16-9 overall and 8-5 in the league.

The Blue Dragons hit .293 in a close first set and .182 in the third set, which was there only set victory. The Dragons hit a negative .048 in the second set and negative .068 in the fourth set.

Sophomore middle blocker Anna Dean lead the Blue Dragons with 11 kills on .308 hitting. She added four digs and one block assist.

Sophomore pin hitter Taniya Golden had 10 kills. Freshman middle McKenzie Murphy had seen kills on .375 hitting and two blocks. Sophomore Alejandra Briseno had six kills and 12 digs.

Sophomore setter Giovanna Ravanhani finished with 33 assists, eight digs and a pair of kills. Freshman setter Shelby Wilson had four assists.

Freshman libero Isabella Rollandini and freshman defensive specialist Alondra Velez tied for team-high honors with 16 digs each. That was a season high in digs for Velez.
