Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team steps away from conference play this weekend to face four tough opponents in the Blue Dragon Volleyball Classic at the Sports Arena.

Play in the six-team weekend tournament – each team will play four matches – begins at 2 p.m. on Friday. Time slots on Day 1 are at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday time slots are 10 a.m., Noon and 2 p.m.

The field includes Hutchinson (12-5), Butler (9-7), No. 17 Indian Hills (12-6), Iowa Western (7-14), Spartanburg Methodist College (9-5) and Mineral Area College (12-3).

The Blue Dragons on Friday play Spartanburg Methodist at 2 p.m. and Indian Hills at 6 p.m. Then on Saturday the Dragons meet Iowa Western at 10 a.m. and Mineral Area at 2 p.m.

Admission is $10 each day. Blue Dragon All-Sports Tickets are valid for the classic. Fans are asked to enter to the Hutchinson Sports Arena south entrance only. The east and west doors are exits only this weekend.

The Blue Dragons are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I Volleyball Rankings. So far through the first two tournaments at McCook and Weatherford, the Blue Dragons have gone 4-4 in those tournaments combined.

Hutchinson enters the tournament hitting .218 as a team with 11.27 kills per set. Sophomore Taniya Golden is the Dragons' leading hitter at 3.77 kills per set on .197 hitting. Sophomore Anna Dean is averaging 2.21 kills on .318 hitting.

The Blue Dragons are averaging 2.45 blocks per set. Dean leads the team with 1.23 blocks per set. Freshman McKenzie Murphy has 1.04 blocks per set.

Sophomore setter Giovanna Ravanhani is averaging 8.41 assists per set and 0.40 ace serves per set. Freshman libero Isabella Rollandini has team highs of 3.38 digs and 0.45 ace serves per set.
