Hutchinson CC Sports Information

For the second-straight week, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team is receiving votes in this week's NJCAA Division I Rankings, released on Monday.

After a 2-1 week against three Jayhawk Conference opponents, the Blue Dragons are 10-5 overall.

This week, Hutchinson travels to Salina to meet the Kansas Wesleyan junior varsity at 6:30 p.m.

The Blue Dragons play host to four strong teams in the Blue Dragon Volleyball Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons play Spartanburg Methodist at 2 p.m. and No. 17 Indian Hills at 6 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons take on Iowa Western at 10 a.m. Saturday and closes out the tournament with Minera Area College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons and Barton are the only two teams from the KJCCC with mentions in the latest national poll. Both the Dragons and Cougars are receiving votes.

Florida Southwestern State, Miami Dade and New Mexico Junior College remain the top three teams in the poll. Former Blue Dragon opponents Navarro and Northeastern Junior College are No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Weatherford, another past Blue Dragon opponent is No. 8 this week.

The Blue Dragons started the season ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll, but dropped out after a 2-2 weekend at the McCook Invitational. The Dragons have been receiving votes for the past two polling periods.
