Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College Volleyball Team opens the 2022 postseason on Wednesday as the Blue Dragons take on the Cloud County Thunderbirds in the opening-round of the Region VI Tournament.

The third meeting of the season between the Blue Dragons and Thunderbirds will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The match will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.

Admission is $5 per person. Because this is a postseason event, Blue Dragon All-Sports Tickets are not valid for this match.

The Hutchinson/Cloud County winner will advance to meet the Butler/Colby winner. Hutchinson is the No. 3 seed and Cloud County is seeded sixth in the eight-team single-elimination tournament. The semifinals and championship matches are Friday and Saturday in Liberal.

The Blue Dragons (25-11) own a pair of sweeps in the two regular-season meetings with Cloud County this season.

The Dragons hit .326 in a 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Cloud County on September 1 at the Sports Arena. Alejandra Briseno and Taniya Golden had 11 kills each in that match.

Sophie Connor hit .358 on a match-high 13 kills on October 5 in Concordia. The Dragons hit .351 in that match.

Cloud County (12-17) enters the match on a five-match win streak.
