Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College Volleyball team is back in the NJCAA Division I national rankings

The Blue Dragons returned to the poll, coming in at No. 20 in the latest edition released Monday.

The reappearance in the rankings came after the Blue Dragons' stunning sweep of previous-No. 12 Seward County in dominant fashion on Saturday at the Sports Arena to complete a 3-0 week.

The win over the Saints tightened up the Jayhawk West standings with the Blue Dragons, Butler and Seward County all tied for first in the conference at 8-1. The Blue Dragons are 21-8 overall, Butler is 14-7 and Seward County is 19-5.

Butler was ranked No. 19 after being 20th last week. Seward County dropped three spots to No. 15.

Hutchinson's slate is short this week with a road trip to Cloud County on Wednesday in Concordia for the second meeting of the season. The Blue Dragons won the first matchup, sweeping the Thunderbirds 3-0 on Sept. 2 at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons will not be traveling to the MSU-West Plains Grizzly Classic this weekend in West Plains Missouri.

For the fifth-straight week, Florida Southwestern received all eight first-place votes and remains No. 1 in the rankings. Salt Lake, Indian Hills, Miami-Dade and Utah State-Eastern round out the nation's Top 5 this week.
