REED, TAKOVA, CRITES EARN ALL-KJCCC/REGION HONORS

Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Three members of the 2018 Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned postseason conference and region honors on Wednesday.

Sophomore liberal Raychel Reed and sophomore right-side hitter Elena Takova were named to the All-Jayhawk West and All-Region VI first teams. Sophomore setter/right-side hitter Cassidy Crites was named to honorable mention lists on both conference and region teams.

The 2018 Blue Dragons finished the season 19-16 and placed third in the Jayhawk West this season. The Dragons bumped off Colby in the Region VI Tournament semifinals to earn a berth in the title match for the 16th time in the last 18 seasons.

RAYCHEL REED – 1st Team, Libero
The sophomore from Aurora, Colorado, completed one of the best libero careers in Blue Dragon history.

This season, Reed racked up 527 total digs and averaged 4.05 digs per set in 35 matches and 130 sets played. The 527 digs were ninth most in single-season Blue Dragon history and her digs-per-set average ranks 10th best in team history. She had a season high of 27 digs in a five-set match at Colby on September 8. She had 10 matches or 20 or more digs this season. Reed had one double-double of 24 digs and 10 set assists against Colby on October 8.

Reed was also a threat from the service line where she posted the third most service aces in single season history with 102.

For her career, Reed finished fourth on the all-time Blue Dragon career digs list with 1,097 digs. She had 137 career service aces with is third on that list.

Last season Reed was honorable mention all-conference and all-region.

ELENA TAKOVA – 1st Team, Right-Side Hitter
In her one year with the Blue Dragons – Takova was a transfer from Northwest College – she became the team's leading hitter this with 358 kills, an average of 2.89 kills per set and a .223 hitting percentage.

Takova also averaged 0.62 blocks per set with 77 total blocks, including 11 solo stuffs.

Takova had two 20-kill matches this season, including a 25-kill match against Colby at the Sports Arena on October 8. That performance tied for the sixth-most kills in a single match in team history.

CASSIDY CRITES – Honorable Mention, Setter/Right-Side Hitter
The sophomore from Claflin had a season high 11 double-doubles to lead the Blue Dragons as the No. 1 setter in the Dragons' 6-2 offense.

Crites had a team-high 654 set assists and averaged 5.07 assists per set. She had a career-high 30 assists against Pratt on October 31. As a hitter, Crites had 122 total kills and hit .140 with 0.95 kills per set. She also had 51 total blocks and 23 service aces.
