HOBBS, New Mexico – Third-year sophomores Lushous Davis and Violet Martinez reached the medal stand and earned All-America honors to lead the Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team on Thursday after a suspended Day 1 of the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at New Mexico Junior College.

The complete Day 1 meet program was suspended behind of persistent rain and lightning in the Hobbs area Thursday night. The meet will resume with the 10,000-meter finals at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. All preliminaries scheduled for Thursday will be moved to Saturday and will be part of timed finals.

All of Hutchinson's Day 1 qualifiers completed competition on Thursday.

Davis, a third-year sophomore from Aurora, Colorado, posted a PR and finished fourth in the women's hammer throw on Thursday. Davis matched her best throw of the day twice, on the final throw of the preliminary round and final throw of the finals.

Davis' top throw was 158 feet, 9 inches. That is the second-longest hammer throw in Blue Dragon women's outdoor track and field history. Davis scored six points for Hutchinson.

Martinez closed her Blue Dragon career with NJCAA All-America honorable mention honors after tying for seventh place on Thursday in the pole vault with a clearance of 10 feet, 2 3/4 inches (3.12 meters). Martinez earned outdoor All-America honors for the third-straight season and it's her fourth overall All-America performance in her Blue Dragon career.

The Blue Dragons scored 7.5 points on Thursday.

Freshman Alivia Noll placed 10th in the pole vault on Thursday, clearing 9 feet, 9 inches (2.97m)

The Blue Dragon 4x800-meter relay finished 10th on Thursday night. The relay team of Gracie Lambert, Serenity Larson, Ellie Van Zelfden and Taylor Hoskinson ran a time of 10:08.73.

The Blue Dragons will have four athletes competing in three events on Friday.

Freshmen Madelyn Hernandez and Liberty Limon will compete in the high jump at 2 p.m. Lambert will run in the 800-meter preliminaries at 3:10 p.m. and Davis will compete in the discus at 6 p.m.
