JANIC POSTS 3RD FASTEST 60H TIME IN NATION THIS SEASON

PITTSBURG – Racing on the same track she won a national championship one year ago, Hutchinson Community College sophomore Adriana Janic posted the third-fastest time in the NJCAA this season on Saturday at the Gorilla Challenge at Pittsburg State University's Plaster Center.

The Blue Dragons were split up to compete at two meets on Saturday. The Dragons also completed at the Highland Challenge in Highland.

At Day 2 of the Gorilla Challenge in Pittsburg, Janic finished fifth in a packed finals field in the 60-meter hurdles that included several NCAA Division I athletes. Janic's time of 8.60 was the third fastest in NJCAA Division I in the indoor season.

Janic also finished sixth in the high jump at 5 feet, 3 3/4 inches.

At Highland
Freshman Kamryn Collins was the only event winner at the Highland Challenge, winning the 500 meters in a time of 1:30.00.

Sophomore Patricia Joseph placed second in the high jump after clearing 4-11 1/2.

Freshman Destini Mathis was second in the women's triple jump at 32-3 1/2.

The Dragon 4x400 relay was second in 4:31.15.

Freshman Aileen Gomez played third in the mile run with a personal-best time of 5:41.71

Freshman Morgan Powell was third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:06.66.

Freshman Tyra Cullum was third in the 200 meters at 27.65 seconds. She was fourth in the 60 meters in 7.70 seconds.

The Blue Dragons begin regional action this week. The Region VI Heptathlon/Pentathlon will be Thursday and Friday at Highland and then the Region VI Indoor Championships will be at Kansas State University's Ahearn Fieldhouse on Sunday, February 18 in Manhattan.
