Coming off an exceptional week where she had a 14-save shutout against a Top 10 opponent, Hutchinson Community College freshman Karsyn Slothower was named the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week on Wednesday.

Slothower has been the Jayhawk Conference Division I Goalkeeper of the week in each of the past two weeks.

Over two matches played last week against nationally ranked opponents, Slothower – a 5-foot-2 keeper from Maize – made 20 total saves on 21 shot attempts to help the now No. 8 Blue Dragons to a 1-0-1 week and move into the national Top 10 for the first time since 2014.

Last Wednesday, Slothower stopped all 14 shots she faced against a potent Barton offense in a thrilling 1-0 victory over the then-No. 8 Cougars at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Then last Saturday at No. 18 Kansas City, Slothower allowed just one goal in seven total shots in a 1-1 draw.

Slothower and the Blue Dragons are now 1-0-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season.

For the season, Slothower is 7-0-3 with six shutouts. She has a 0.40 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

Slothower is the second Blue Dragon to earn NJCAA national weekly honors this season. Forward Adriana Delgado was the NJCAA Division I National Player of the Week two weeks ago.

Slothower is the first Blue Dragon keeper to earn national honors since Madison Quarles last season. Slothower is the ninth different Blue Dragon keeper to earn national player of the week.
