The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team scored a season-high five goals in the final home game of 2021 on Wednesday against Dodge City.

Freshman Hadlie Lowe posted her third hat trick and seventh game-winning goal of the season and freshman Aimee Maher had a four-point game as the Blue Dragons defeated Dodge City 5-0 on Sophomore Night.

After the match, the team's seven sophomores – Aspen Apfel, D'Naeya Gray, Madison Ontjes, Jordan Crone, Katie Taylor, Kambrian Colborn and Sophia El Kabbadj – were honored after their final matches at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

The Blue Dragons improved to 7-5-1 overall and 6-5-1 in the Jayhawk West. Dodge City slipped to 2-10 overall and in league play. Hutchinson will close out the regular season on Saturday in a rescheduled game at Neosho County. Kickoff is 2 p.m. at Neosho County High School.

The Blue Dragons extended their winning streak over the Conquistadors to 24 games and are 25-1 all-time against Dodge City.

Lowe scored her third hat trick of the season and now has 15 goals. That moves her into the Blue Dragon single-season Top 20 for goals scored, tied for 18th with Vanessa Magana (2008) and Jordan Downing (2015). Her seventh game-winning goal moves her into second place on the single-season list, behind only Melissa Hetheringon, who had eight game winners in 2011.

Lowe had a season-high seven points, adding an assist to per final game stats on Wednesday.

Lowe scored the first two goals of the game, both assisted by Maher. The first goal didn't come until the 34th minute of the game. Lowe's first goal gave Hutchinson a 1-0 lead at halftime. Lowe added goals early in the second half and closed out the scoring with 6:30 left to play to make it 5-0.

Hutchinson's previous season high for goals was four in a 4-2 win at Dodge city on September 22. This was only the third time in 2021 that the Blue Dragons scored three or more goals.

Five different Blue Dragons posted a point in the victory.

Maher had a goal and two assists in her four-point effort. Maher's second goal of the season with a rocket of a shot that drilled the upper-left corner of the net that gave the Dragons a 4-0 lead. Her two assists tie a career high.

Crone netted her first goal of the season with 31:07 to play. Lowe moved in and drew Dodge defenders to her. Lowe then slid a touch pass over to Crone, who hammered it home for a 3-0 Blue Dragon lead.

Lani Dickinson and Taylor also had assists in the game.

Freshman goalkeeper Madison Quarles played the first 64 minutes and made one save for the Blue Dragons. April played the final 26 minutes.

The Blue Dragons out-shot Dodge City 26-1 and created seven cornerkicks.
