Sophomore Sheena Nichol had a goal and three assists to lead the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons to a 6-0 victory over Trinidad State Junior College on Sunday afternoon at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

The Blue Dragons improve to 2-0 and will play Rose State College at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Salthawk Sports Complex. Trinidad State falls to 0-2.

Nichol was credited with the game-winning goal when she executed a header from a perfect Kaitlin Moore free kick from 35 yards out with 23 minutes to play in the opening half. Nichol then assisted on Hutchinson's next three goals by Avery McCarter, Mikayla Moresco and Jasmine Blindt.

Nichol's three assists were a career high. She is the 46th Blue Dragon to have a three-assist match.

The Blue Dragons dominated possession and outshot the Trojans 19-4.

Megan Maslak and Brailey Moeder each had goals for the second-straight game. Moore and Moresco also had assists.

Freshman Clara Burgmuller earned her first career goalkeeper victory and shutout in a Blue Dragon uniform. Burgmuller made four saves, but saved the best for last.

The only true Trinidad State scoring chance game late in the game. Bergmuller sprawled to make the first save and then recovered to knocked down a second shot attempt.

The Blue Dragon led 3-0 at halftime. After Nichol's goal in the 24th minute, the Dragons tallied twice in the final five minutes of the half with breakaway goals from McCarter and Moresco.

Blindt and Moeder scored with 2 minutes of each other to make it 5-0 Hutchinson in the 52nd minute. Maslak scored with 35 seconds remaining in the contest.

MATCH NOTES – Hutchinson and Trinidad State played for the first time ever in women's soccer. … Nichol's goal was her 29th career goal, which ties her for ninth on the all-time Blue Dragon scoring list with Pearl Slattery (2010-11). … Now with 74 points, Nichol is 11th on the career points list with 74.
