The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team comes off its final bye week of the regular season with its first road trip since January 13.

The No. 2-ranked Blue Dragons (19-0, 13-0 KJCCC) travels to Northwest Kansas to play the Colby Trojans (6-13, 2-12 KJCCC) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Colby Event Center.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 5:15 p.m.

The Blue Dragons jumped up to the No. 2 spot in the NJCAA national rankings after defeating No. 12 Dodge City 82-77 last Wednesday and seeing No. 1 Northwest Florida and No. 3 McLennan drop games last week. This is the first time since the final five weeks of the 2016-2017 season the Blue Dragons have been this high in the national rankings. That Blue Dragon team was also ranked No. 2 in the country.

Freshman Kiki Smith poured in a career-high 29 points on 9 of 11 shooting with four 3-pointers to lead the Blue Dragons to a regular-season sweep of the Conquistadors. Monae Duffy had 16 points and eight rebounds, while Journey Armstead had 14 points, five assists and a career-high five steals to lead Hutchinson.

The Blue Dragons look to extend the sixth-best start to a season in program history and the seventh-longest in streak in team history. The Dragons also bid for 32nd 20-win season in the 50-year history of the program. Head coach John Ontjes has 14 20-win seasons under his belt.

After snapping a three-game losing streak with a 62-56 win over Garden City last Wednesday, the Trojans fell 78-38 to No. 12 Dodge City on Saturday. Sophia Lopez had 115 points and Noella Biduaya finished with 10 points as Colby struggled to 25.8 percent shootings.

Wednesday's game features two of the Jayhawk Conference's all-time winningest coaches in history.

Ontjes is No. 2 on the KJCCC coaching wins list with 465 wins. Colby coach Darin Spence ranks ninth with a combined 345 KJCCC coaching wins Butler, Cowley, Barton and Colby.
