Coming off an impressive victory on Wednesday at No. 3 Butler, the 11th-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team plays its first home game of the new year on Saturday afternoon.

The first-place Blue Dragons (13-0, 7-0 KJCCC) play host to the Northwest Tech Mavericks (1-10, 0-7) at 2 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) beginning at 1:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network, also at 1:45 p.m.

The Blue Dragons extended the ninth-best start in the 50th season of the program after toppling No. 3 Butler 72-53 on Wednesday in El Dorado. That was Hutchinson's first victory over a Top 5 team since the 2017 Region VI Tournament when the Dragons knocked off then No. 4 Seward County 65-44.

Leading Butler by one point after one quarter on Wednesday, the Blue Dragon bench played a huge role in a dominant second quarter that saw Hutchinson outscored the Grizzlies 28-7.

Led by Peyton Mosley, the Blue Dragon bench scored 14 points in that decisive second quarter. Mosley had two 3-pointers and eight of her career-high 16 points in the second quarter. Bree Horyna and Jada Pleasant both hit 3-pointers. The Blue Dragons shot 71.4 percent to Butler's 23.1 percent.

Kiki Smith had 15 points, Hailey Jackson had 12 points and Monae Duffy had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The victory was head coach John Ontjes' 50th (50-24) against a ranked opponent.

Northwest Tech comes into Saturday's game on an eight-game losing streak. The Mavericks are 0-7 on the road this season.

Tech fell at No. 14 Dodge City 98-66 on Wednesday night. The Maverick's last victory came on November 12 at home in a 79-59 victory over Otero College.

Freshman Serena Lee is Northwest Tech's leading scorer at 17.2 points per game, which ranks fifth in the Jayhawk Conference. Lee comes off a 31-point, six 3-pointer performance against Dodge City on Wednesday.

Last season, the Blue Dragons swept Northwest Tech, winning 81-52 in Goodland and 73-63 at the Sports Arena.
