NEWTON – Redshirt freshman Louis Ross carded his third-straight under-par round and the Hutchinson Community College golfer earned Top 10 finish at the Grier Jones Shocker Classic at Sand Creek Station.

Ross shot a final-round 71 on Tuesday to tie for eighth and lead the No. 3-ranked Blue Dragons to seventh-place tie in a 16-team field filled with 14 NCAA Division I teams.

Ross carded four birdies and three bogeys for a 1-under 71 in Tuesday's final round. Ross had rounds of 69 and a career-low 68 on Monday to finish at 8-under 208. Ross tied with SIU-Edwardsville's T.J. Baker for eighth place in the individual standings.

Ross was the only Blue Dragon to shoot under par in Tuesday's final round. Freshmen David Razinskas and Charlie Box shot even-par 72s. The Dragons also counted sophomore Louis Galvin's 78 to post a final-round 2-over 290 on Tuesday.

The Dragons tied Abilene Christian for seventh place with a 54-hole total of 3-under 861. The Dragons started the tournament with a 292 on Monday and had a season-low 279 in the second round, also played Monday.

Wichita State won the team title at 841 after shooting a 285 in the final round. Seton Hall was second at 844 and Rice University was third at 847.

The Blue Dragons had two players finish in the Top 10. Box tied for 17th at 3-under 312. Box had rounds of 70, 71 and 72 in the tournament.

Razinskas tied for 49th at 4-over 220. After a tough start in Monday's opening round with a 79, Razinskas posted rounds of 69 and 72.

Galvin tied for 62nd at 223 (77-71-75). Micah Blowers tied for 71st at 226 (76-72-78).

Oklahoma State's Ryhan Thomas won the individual championship at 10-under 206. He shot a 71 on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons close out the fall season on October 23 and 24 at the NJCAA National Preview in Hobbs, New Mexico.
