PUEBLO, Colo. – After a slow start through the first 12 holes in the opening round of the 2020 fall season, an eagle by freshman Ben Partridge sparked the Blue Dragons, who are in the thick of the title chase at the CSU-Pueblo Farmers Insurance/Samuel Proal Invitational.

The Blue Dragons are four strokes off the lead of Colorado State-Pueblo with a team score of 10-under par. The second round was suspended because of darkness.

Only two teams completed play in the second round on Monday. Ten teams and 48 golfers must complete their second round at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday. Hutchinson has just one hole to complete. CSU-Pueblo and Texas A&M International, the two teams above the Blue Dragons in the team standings, both have five holes to complete.

Once the second round concludes, the third and final round will begin with a shotgun start scheduled for 10 a.m. CT

Through the first 11 holes of the opening round on Monday at Walking Stick Golf Course – the Blue Dragons starting assignment was the fourth hole – Hutchinson was 2-over par and tied for sixth place. Partridge then eagled the par-5 15th hole, which sent him to 3-under for the round and provided a much needed spark for the Blue Dragons, who quickly zipped up the team leaderboard.

From that point, the Blue Dragons played the final seven holes in 7-under par and finished with a 5-under 283. Hutchinson was third by three strokes after one round. Partridge and sophomore Charlie Crockett led the way with 3-under 69s and Trey McCrae shot even-par 72 to lead the Dragons in the opening round.

Through 17 holes of the second round, the Blue Dragons played at a 5-under par clip. McCrae and freshman Harry Crockett were leading the way with 2-under rounds.

At the point of suspension on Monday, CSU-Pueblo led at 14-under par and was 8-under in the second round on its home course. Texas A&M International was at 13-under with a 6-under second round. Hutchinson was 10-under. Colorado School of Mines was one of the two teams to complete play on Monday. Mines is 7-under par with a 569 total through 36 holes (283-286).

The Blue Dragons have two players in the Top 10 and four in the Top 20 individually.

Partridge is tied for sixth at 4-under par. He shot a 69 in the opening round and was 1-under through 17 holes in the second round.

Charlie Crockett is tied for 10th at 3-under par. He had an opening-round 69 and was even par in the second round.

McCrae is tied for 14th at 2-under par. McCrae was playing 2-under in the second round after an opening-round 72.

Harry Crockett had a wild start to his opening round. He birdied 2 of his first 3 holes, but gave five strokes back over the next holes to fall to 3-over. Crockett recovered to finish with a 1-over 73 and was 2-under in the second round through 17 holes.

Freshman Cameron Rios-Ceballos carded a 3-over 75 in the opening round and struggled in the second round at 7-over and is tied for 55th at 10-over par.
