Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team remained No. 15 in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings despite a 1-1 week last week.
This week's poll was released a day later than normal because of the Presidents' Day holiday on Monday.
Now 21-4 overall, the Blue Dragons started last week with a thrilling come-from-behind 88-86 victory at then-No. 9 Cowley last Wednesday in Arkansas City. The Dragons then dropped an 85-74 decision to then-No. 22 Butler on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
While losing a game in the Jayhawk Conference standings – Hutchinson is in third place, 2.5 games behind leader Barton and 0.5 games behind second-place Cowley – the Blue Dragons remained at No. 15 in the rankings for the third-straight week.
The Blue Dragons have two road games this season, at Northwest Tech on Wednesday in Goodland and at Seward County on Saturday in Liberal.
The Blue Dragons have now been ranked in 13 consecutive polls.
Four Jayhawk Conference teams remain in the national rankings. Barton (25-1) remained No. 2. Cowley (22-4) dropped three spots to No. 12. Butler (20-5) jumped up three spots to No. 19.
Former Blue Dragon opponent NEO (20-3) moved up one spot to No. 22 this week.
The Top 5 saw two changes after former No. 4 Vincennes lost. South Plains remains No. 1, followed by Barton, Daytona State, Triton and Mineral Area.
