The Hutchinson Community College look to close out a very successful month of January with a Wednesday road trip to take on the Colby Trojans.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Dragons (16-3, 11-2 Jayhawk Conference) meets Colby (7-13, 3-11, KJCCC) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Colby Event Center.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 7:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will also be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 7:15 p.m.

Since returning from the holiday break, the Blue Dragons have gone 6-1 in the month of January. Offensively the Blue Dragons are averaging 84.6 points while shooting just shy of 50 percent (49.8 percent). Defensively, the Dragons were one of the best teams in the KJCCC allowing only 67.7 points per contest.

After getting last Saturday off with their second league bye week, the Blue Dragons last played and defeated Dodge City, 107-72 one week ago at the Sports Arena. The Dragons had their second-biggest point total and tied a season high with 57.6 percent shooting against the Conquistadors. Defensively, the Dragons limited Dodge City 29 first-half points and 38.9 percent overall shooting while forcing 25 turnovers.

Valentino Simon produced an impressive double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds on 9 of 10 shooting. Dre Weathers was 8 of 8 from the field for 17 points. J.P. Ricks had 18 points and seven assists.

Colby is 2-2 in its last four game, which includes a win over Coffeyville and a 77-67 win over Dodge City last Saturday at Dodge City.

The Trojans feature four players who average in double figures led by Maxence Massadila at 14.1 points per game. He had 20 points in the victory over Dodge City and poured in a career-high 28 points in the first meeting with the Blue Dragons this season, a 91-82 Hutchinson win on November 25 at the Sports Arena.

Colby led the Blue Dragons at halftime in that first meeting in November. Ricks led five Blue Dragons in double figures with 18 points and five assists as Hutchinson pulled away for a nine-point victory, Hutchinson's sixth-consecutive win over Colby.

Wednesday's matchup will be the 63rd overall meeting between Hutchinson and Colby, the 55th as KJCCC opponents. The first eight meetings of the series between 1968 and 1994 weren't as conference opponents. Colby joined the KJCCC in the 1996-97 season.

The Blue Dragons won the first 17 meetings in series history and own a 56-6 all-time series advantage over the Trojans.
