The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team puts a five-game winning streak on the line Wednesday with a road trip to play the Cloud County Thunderbirds.

Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Arley Bryant Gym in Concordia.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with Sean Boston (PBP) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed live and free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network. The broadcasts begin at 7:45 p.m.

With victories over Independence and Pratt last week, the Blue Dragons have climbed to No. 19 in the latest NJCAA Division I national rankings.

Sophomore Kernan Bundy came off the bench to lead the Blue Dragons with 19 points to lead Hutchinson to a 103-87 victory over Pratt on Saturday at the Sports Arena. Hutchinson improved to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the Jayhawk Conference.

The Blue Dragons are leading the nation in steals this season. Hutchinson is averaging 15.8 steals per game, forcing an average of 25.7 turnovers per game. The Dragons have six games of 10 or more steals this season. The Blue Dragons are also tied for 13th in the NJCAA with 6.2 blocked shots per game. The Dragons come off a game against Pratt with 12 blocked shots - six alone from Edwin Daniel. The 12 blocked shots tied for eighth most in program single-game history,

The Blue Dragons head to a place on Wednesday where they have lost 3 of the last four games.

Last season in Concordia, the Blue Dragons were limited to a season-low offensive output to that point in the season in a 90-75 loss to the Thunderbirds. The Dragons avenged that setback with an 88-82 win over Cloud County at the Sports Arena.

Cloud County's signature win to this point in the season with a 20-point victory at Coffeyville on November 21 (63-43). The Thunderbirds climbed to No. 24 in the national rankings after that victory.

Since then, the Thunderbirds have dropped 2 of 3 games, including an 89-87 loss on Saturday at Dodge City.

Sophomore Ja'Ron Briggs Jr. is Cloud County's leading scorer at 15.0 points per game. Four players average in double figures for the Thunderbirds.
