Blue Dragon Sports Information

The No. 19-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team looks to take another step toward clinching a first-round home game for the Region VI Tournament on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons (20-6) play host to the Seward County Saints in the final home game of the regular season 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

After a tough 92-89 road victory on Monday at Northwest Tech, the Blue Dragons (20-6 overall) improved to 14-6, which is good enough for place in the Jayhawk Conference with four games to play. The top four teams in the final KJCCC standings will earn opening-round byes for the Region VI Tournament. The Blue Dragons lead fifth-place Coffeyville and Colby to 2.5 games.

Both Hutchinson and Seward County have 48-hour turnarounds for Wednesday's game.

The Blue Dragons outlasted Northwest Tech 92-89 on Monday in Goodland on the power of a season-high-tying 14 3-pointers - five by Kaimen Lennox and four by Nate Goodlow. The Dragons has leads as large as 26 points in the first half only to see Northwest Tech get within one point in the final minute.

Seward County defeated Barton 81-52 on Monday night in Liberal. The Saints held the Cougars to just 10 points in the first half.

Playing for the 113th time in series history, Hutchinson goes after the season sweep of Seward County on Wednesday. The Blue Dragons defeated the Saints 81-66 on January 8 in Liberal. Angelo Stuart buried 6 of 10 3-pointers to lead Hutchinson with 23 points. Kobe Campbell had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Harvin Ibarguen finished with 19 points to lead the Saints in the first game on 9 of 10 shooting.

The Blue Dragons have played the last three games without Stuart, the Jayhawk Conference's leading scorer at 21.3 points per game. The Blue Dragons are 2-1 in his absence. Campbell is averaging 19.3 points per game to lead the Dragons over that span of games. Lennox is averaging 17.7 points and Jacquez Yow is averaging 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.

The Dragons will play two games in two days with a road trip to Butler Thursday.
